A quick question - Do you fall into this category of business owners who are working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to earn a living? Now you too can avoid Working 24 Hours a day at Your Home Business.
We all know how important it is to work hard to get your home business up and running and off the ground. We also know that when your home business is located right in your home, it is all too easy to get a few extra hours of work in after you eat dinner, or to get up early to work a little bit more in the morning. However, the fact remains that most of the people who are working at home businesses have decided to do this so that they can control what hours they work, and so that they can have more time to themselves to do the things that they have always wanted to do, and to spend quality time with their family, especially if you have a growing family. If you find yourself working too much, and you know that you are in danger of working longer hours than you did at your old job, here are some ways to avoid becoming a 24 hour a day worker again.
Working Hours
First and foremost, no matter what your business is, you need to have working hours. This is for your benefit. If you have an online site or an online store, you are going to be open 24 hours a day, but this doe not mean that you have to be at your computer for the entire day. You need to set hours for yourself, and these hours will have to include time to process whatever has come in while you are not working. There is a danger in sitting at your computer all day to take orders in the hope of keeping up with such orders, with keeping up with service delivery, because you will find that you never leave.
If you find that you have too much work, and not enough time, this could mean that you are taking on way too much, and that you are not delegating enough. You have to work out a suitable time management schedule that will be ideal for you. And be sure to delegate tasks - to make sure you do not have to work all day and all night. This is something that a lot of people fail to do, or find difficult to do – to delegate - and it can be something that really needs to be considered seriously, and should be mastered, because delegating or giving out tasks is one of the ways to ensure all of your work gets done. If you find yourself with too much, you may end up working more than you want to be working, so be sure to find help, or hire some if you need it. And then you should automate. This is definitely one of the best things we now have with the internet age - the ability and the ease with which we can automate things so that most of our regular chores can be run on auto pilot - without you lifting a finger.
Something else that you can be sure to do is to give yourself a break now and then. Remember that you do not have to take on every project that comes your way, you can always delegate. You can equally outsource. And remember that you can, and indeed you should take time off work once in a while to unwind, and to restrategise for higher productivity. These things are important, and are also vital to keeping your sanity as well as your business.
